M5000 Overview “5000 tonnes per day. The new worldscale plant
benchmark.”
Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Ltd (MHTL)
commissioned its M5000 Mega Plant at its production
complex in Point Lisas, Trinidad in November 2005. The
plant produces 5,000 metric tons of methanol per day
and, through the utilization of purge gas streams from
the existing plants, is capable of producing an additional
400 metric tons of methanol per day. The combined production
of 5,400 metric tons makes M5000 the largest methanol
plant in the world.
The total production capacity of MHTL has now increased
to approximately 4 million metric tons per annum.
The M5000 plant is built between the existing CMC plant
and the TTMC I plant. This close proximity to the existing
plants on the MHTL production complex will allow MHTL
to exploit the available operational synergies.
M5000 World Class Team
MHTL maintained the team that has successfully carried
its last three plants at Point Lisas from conceptual
design through to sustained operations.
